Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard avoided committing an NCAA violation last week when discussing German prospect Franz Wagner on The Jim Rome Show, the Free Press has learned.
Howard was thought to have committed an NCAA secondary violation when he discussed Wagner and his recruitment on the show, even though he never mentioned Wagner by name. But according to a person with knowledge of the situation, Wagner had already signed financial aid papers to attend Michigan at "the end of June," clearing the way for Howard to speak publicly about Wagner without penalty.
Michigan waited until Saturday to announce that Wagner had signed the financial aid papers. Wagner also announced his decision on Instagram.
