Lakers Reportedly Identify 3 New Coaching Candidates Following Ty Lue Disaster

12 Up

The Los Angeles Lakers looked to be dead-set on hiring Ty Lue as the team's new head coach. However, that never happened, as Lue backed out of negotiations following an "impasse" with the team over a litany of issues

So now, with the team's top options and Monty Williams now off the board, the Lakers are scrambling to find their next bench boss, and three intriguing choices have reportedly entered the fray. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Lakers have added Lionel Hollins, Frank Vogel, and Mike Woodson to their coaching search.

Hollins has been out of the NBA since 2016 after being fired by the Brooklyn Nets after a stint of fewer than two full years. However, he's had success as the Memphis Grizzlies coach from 2009-13. He led Memphis to a franchise-record 56 wins and to the Western Conference Finals in 2013.
