The Lightning’s dissatisfaction runs from top to bottom. Team owner Jeff Vinik sent an email to season-ticket holders expressing his disappointment in Tampa Bay’s first round sweep.
“We accept full ownership and responsibility for our result in the postseason,” his letter reads. “Nobody is more disappointed than our players and the hockey operations department, inclusive of Julien BriseBois, Jon Cooper, our coaches, and staff. Me, too.”
He went on to say the Lightning remains “very bullish,” but doesn’t want to overreact to the disappointment. Vinik wrote that he believes his team will win the Stanley Cup with BriseBois and Cooper. He plans to let them, and CEO Steve Griggs do their jobs.
