The Clemson football team finished last season as the No. 1 team in the nation and is an odds-on favorite to enter the 2019 season as the preseason No. 1 team.
Now the Tigers also are No. 1 in recruiting – at least for now.
Bryan Bresee, a defensive tackle who is rated the nation’s No. 1 player by the 247Sports Composite, gave a verbal commitment to attend Clemson during a press conference at his high school in Damascus, Maryland on Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m happy to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Clemson University,” Bresee said. “This has truly been a blessing. I’m all in.”
His commitment gave Coach Dabo Swinney and his staff 12 players in the 2020 recruiting class, all of whom are rated four stars or above, and vaulted the class over Alabama and LSU into the nation’s top spot.
Clemson has never had the country's top-rated recruiting class.
