The Boston Red Sox starting rotation took a hit Monday.
Left-handed starter Nathan Eovaldi will have right elbow surgery, per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
WEEI's Rob Bradford reported an expected timetable for Eovaldi's absence.
Eovaldi has a 6.00 ERA with a 1.52 WHIP, 16 strikeouts and 11 walks over 21 innings in four starts this season. He's no stranger to elbow procedures — the 29-year-old has had two Tommy John surgeries in his career.
