Mookie Betts not blaming Red Sox manager for struggles

Larry Brown Sports

The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to a miserable start to the 2019 season, as the reigning World Series winners have started 2-7 with repeated blowouts among the defeats. Frustration looked to be boiling over some after the latest, a 15-8 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Naturally, many are eager to find someone to blame for such a brutal start, especially after the team was so successful last season. 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts says it shouldn’t be manager Alex Cora.

“It’s definitely not him,” Betts said, via Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald. “It’s us. Our heads aren’t in it in some situations. A couple tough bounces, it’s just a part of the game. We have to play better for sure.”
