Jay Gruden: Redskins would need QB to contribute from day one

Larry Brown Sports

The Washington Redskins are in win-now mode.

That’s according to coach Jay Gruden, who added that if the Redskins draft and start a rookie quarterback, it would not be as a developmental project.

“There is no developmental process here,” Gruden said, via John Keim of ESPN. “This is not Triple-A baseball; we’re [not] trying to develop a pitcher here. We’re trying to win a game right now. If we draft a quarterback in the first, second, third or seventh rounds and he’s going to start Day 1, we expect great things from him.
