Jerry Stackhouse is Vanderbilt's new basketball coach, a source confirmed to The Tennessean.
Stackhouse is a former North Carolina star player, NBA All-Star, G-League Coach of the Year and, most recently, a first-year assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies this season.
He is an untraditional hire for Vanderbilt, but he falls in line with the arrival of new athletics director Malcolm Turner.
Stackhouse led the Toronto Raptors' G-League team to a title as head coach, but he never has coached college players. Turner was a successful G-League president, but he never served as a college athletics administrator until coming to Vanderbilt on Feb. 1.
