Tom Izzo was mostly jubilant in the minutes after Michigan State took home a Big Ten tournament title by beating rival Michigan on Sunday afternoon here at the United Center.
But he couldn't deny being a little upset about his team's draw in the NCAA Tournament, announced soon after his team's game ended.
Michigan State was seeded as the No. 2 seed in the East region by the NCAA Tournament selection committee. On the overall list of seeds, Michigan State was No. 6.
That's below where most media projections had them, even before the Spartans won the Big Ten title. But the Spartan not only ended up without a No. 1 seed, but in the same region as the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, Duke.
Asked if he thought Michigan State got what it deserved from the committee, Izzo said he didn't think so.
