The Rockets are not finished adjusting their roster.
Houston made multiple deals before Thursday’s trade deadline, but general manager Daryl Morey told the Chronicle those moves were designed with the future in mind.
“(We wanted) to create the flexibility to be able to play the buyout market, open a roster spot and create flexibility now and down the road,” Morey said.
The Rockets sent away James Ennis, Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin in exchange for draft picks and also acquired wing Iman Shumpert from the Kings in a three-team trade.
“We've been targeting (Shumpert) as someone who fits really well with James (Harden) and Chris (Paul),” Morey said. “A guy who is a high-level spot shooter from distance and (strong) defender who has played in The Finals multiple times and won the championship."
