Paris Saint-Germain have boosted their Champions League hopes with the signing of Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes.
The 25-year-old, who had been wanted by Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to replace Cesc Fabregas this month, has joined from Zenit St Petersburg in a £40million deal.
Paredes has inked a deal at the Parc des Princes until 2023, and has been handed the No.8 shirt vacated by Thiago Motta following his retirement last summer.
"I’m very proud to be joining Paris Saint-Germain," said Paredes, "After my previous experiences in Italy and Russia, I now have this fantastic opportunity, not only to discover a new league, but above all one to wear one the most prestigious club jerseys in the world.
"I’d like to thank the chairman and the coach for the confidence they have shown in me by signing me.
