Predators forward Austin Watson has been suspended indefinitely by the NHL, in conjunction with the NHLPA, and admitted into stage two of the league's substance abuse and behavioral health program.
The suspension, effective immediately, is "related exclusively to his ongoing issues with alcohol abuse," the league said in a statement. Watson will not be paid during his suspension.
Watson, who was suspended for the preseason and the first 18 games of the regular season after pleading no contest to domestic abuse this summer, recently opened up about his struggles with alcohol and depression.
Watson was arrested at a Franklin gas station June and charged with domestic assault against his girlfriend.
