New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has been a busy man this offseason.

He re-signed outfielder Brett Gardner and signed two middle infielders, Troy Tulowitzki and DJ LeMahieu.

Cashman also strengthened the rotation by trading for James Paxtonwhile re-signing free agents J.A. Happ and CC Sabathia. Cashman solidified the bullpen by re-signing Zach Britton and adding Adam Ottavino.

At this point, it would appear that the Yankees are out of the Manny Machado and Bryce Harper sweepstakes.

But the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo says Cashman might have one more trick up his sleeve.

After trading Sonny Gray to the Reds, there’s a possibility the Yankees could pick off one of the remaining free agent starters.

It likely won’t be (Dallas) Keuchel, but are Gio Gonzalez or Ervin Santana possibilities for that fifth spot? Certainly the spot is being reserved for CC Sabathia, but it would be risky for the Yankees to go into the season relying on Sabathia, who had a stent inserted during a heart operation in December.
