Jets safety Jamal Adams' “tackle” of the Patriots' mascot Wednesday, during the Pro Bowl Skills Challenge event, supposedly sent the person inside the costume to the hospital.
That was the word Thursday out of Orlando, Fla., though perhaps this is all still just part of a larger gag.
After all, video of Adams “hitting” Pat the Patriot — and Adams didn’t hit him all that hard — sure appeared staged, as if the person inside the mascot costume was prepared for the contact, and in on the whole thing all along. A Jets spokesman did not immediately return a message seeking clarification.
Adams had a couple things to say Thursday about the supposed hospitalization of the mascot. Adams, via ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, said he wasn’t trying to injure the mascot, but was informed that the person had to be hospitalized Thursday morning. The NFL isn’t confirming that, per DiRocco.
