Bruins are interested in Carolina’s Micheal Ferland

Stanley Cup Of Chowder

Elliotte Friedman posted the latest version of his always great "31 Thoughts" today, and it featured plenty of info on trade rumors from around the league.

The Bruins were mentioned in one interesting point:

"4. The list is longer, but Boston, Edmonton, Pittsburgh and Vancouver are among those interested in Micheal Ferland."

That would be Micheal Ferland of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Ferland is a wing who will be 27 in April. He's currently in the middle of a career year with Carolina, 13 goals and 12 assists in 39 games.

Ferland had 21 goals last year and 15 before that, so he's certainly on pace to set a new career mark.

He's a bit of a gritty player, with some toughness to his game. He comes with a $1.75 million cap hit and will be an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

Some have suggested his strong season has priced him out of Carolina, meaning the Hurricanes may look to move him before losing him for nothing.
