Eagles would like to keep Foles as backup

The Score

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson confirmed Tuesday that Carson Wentz will be the team's starting quarterback moving forward, according to 94WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks, putting to rest any potential quarterback controversy for 2019.

General manager Howie Roseman added that the Eagles have "confidence in his ability to be (the team's) quarterback and to be hopefully a 19-game starter," according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

As for Nick Foles, Roseman acknowledged it may be difficult to retain him with his $20-million mutual option looming but said Philadelphia "would love" to bring back the reigning Super Bowl MVP as a backup, according to NBC's John Clark.

"It's always gotta be what's best for our football team and the Philadelphia Eagles, so we have to make decisions based on that," he said. "But there's also the respect factor for guys that have done a lot for us and have been part of (the team's success). We try to factor that in as well, but the bottom line is we gotta do what's best for our football team …"
