Enes Kanter is not leaving the United States of America — not even for a basketball game.
The New York Knicks big man, who has been at the center of attacks from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan due to Kanter speaking out against the Turkish president, explains that his life is in danger and that he will not leave America to play a game in London when the Knicks take on the Washington Wizards on January 17.
“If I'm in America, I'm safe. I feel very safe but if I step outside of America, it'll be a very dangerous situation.”
Knicks center and Turkish President Erdogan critic Enes Kanter will not travel to London for a game, fearing for his life.
Kanter has been very vocal in the past of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the past and added that he fears that he could be killed by Turkish spies while in London.
