The 2019 NFL Draft has another quarterback in the mix for the first round. Duke quarterback Daniel Jones informed his head coach that he will enter the draft this coming April, according to ACC sportswriter Stephen Wiseman.
This news comes a week after Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert announced plans to return to school for one more year. Herbert was viewed as arguably the top quarterback prospect in this year’s draft, but could now be in line to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Jones is not a surprising development, but now the big wait is for Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. There are some who think Haskins would be the top quarterback on the board, and Jones would be competing with Will Grier (West Virginia) and Drew Lock (Missouri) to be next off the board.
The cupboard is a little thin, but that won’t stop teams from reaching in hopes of finding their franchise quarterback.
