Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving wore sunglasses to his post-game press conference after Boston’s 120-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, which made the first question reporters had to ask somewhat superfluous.
How’s the eye, Kyrie?
“I’m wearing sunglasses,” Irving said. “So not too good. It’s going to be all right though.”
Irving suffered scratches on both eyes and a scratched right cornea, which Brad Stevens said will require antibiotics.
“I don’t know what that means beyond tonight," Stevens added.
The play happened late in the fourth quarter, after Kyrie Irving pulled up on the break for a 3-point attempt. Spurs guard Marco Belinelli contested, but Irving’s shot caromed off the rim and away from the play. On his way past, Belinelli’s arm inadvertently flew up and smacked Irving in the face. Irving went down hard and lay with his hands over his face for several moments.
