The warrior will rest, after all. After giving signs all week that there was going to be some level of work in the Dallas Cowboys final regular season game of 2018, running back Ezekiel Elliott will get some rest after all. According to Jane Slater of the NFL Network, the league’s leading rusher will forego a chance to pad his stats and will sit out the Week 17 road game against the New York Giants.
Darius Jackson spent much of the season on the practice squad, and was elevated to the 53-man roster in Week 16, though he was inactive.
Elliott currently sits as the league rushing leader with 1,434 yards, and appears set for his second title in his three seasons. He is already 183 ahead of the white-flag waving Todd Gurley of the Rams, who will also sit out Week 17. Elliott is 236 yards in front of the prohibitive offensive rookie of the year favorite, Saquon Barkley.
