Manchester United have not met with Zinedine Zidane about accepting the permanent manager's role.
United named Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their caretaker manager until the end of the season and are due to make a permanent appointment once the campaign has ended, with Mauricio Pochettino believed to be the favourite.
The MEN reported this week that Tottenham coach Pochettino would have to take any offer from United 'into account' but the Argentinian is contracted to the Londoners until 2023. Zidane is still a free agent after he left Real Madrid but the MEN understands club representatives have not met with the Frenchman.
At the height of the Zidane speculation earlier this season, the three-time Champions League winner is understood to have touched base with Mourinho to keep him abreast of any possible meetings between his agent Alain Migliaccio and United suits. Zidane has never had direct dialogue with United and was merely asked by Migliaccio whether he would consider the position.
