New York opted not to complete a one-for-one trade exchanging pitcher Noah Syndergaard for Realmuto, a source told Andy Martino of SNY.
The team signed catcher Wilson Ramos to a two-year deal Sunday, likely taking them out of the running for Realmuto.
The Mets were reported to be aggressively pursuing the Marlins backstop for most of the offseason; a number of their players including Amed Rosario, Michael Conforto, and Brandon Nimmo were mentioned as possibilities in a deal.
