Mark Sanchez’s time as the Washington Redskins starts sure was short-lived.
The quarterback, making his first start since 2015 against the Giants, found himself benched for Josh Johnson after completing 6-of-14 pass attempts for 38 yards and a pair of interceptions, including a first-quarter pick-six by Curtis Riley in front of the D.C. crowd on Sunday.
Sanchez helmed the team after Alex Smith and backup Colt McCoy went down with leg injuries on consecutive weeks. Johnson, meanwhile, was signed as the team’s fourth option and is making his first regular-season appearance since 2013. Until Sunday, he hadn’t thrown a pass since 2011.
