The Redskins will start quarterback Josh Johnson in Week 15 against the Jaguars after Mark Sanchez was benched in the second half of Sunday's 40-16 loss to the Giants.
Coach Jay Gruden told reporters that Washington will get Johnson ready this week.
"Mark Sanchez, Josh Johnson — can't say enough about them coming in here on really short notice trying to learn an NFL offense and play on a Sunday with limited reps," Gruden said. "They competed and did the best they could at the end of the day. Weren't quite ready."
Johnson replaced Sanchez while Washington was down 40-0. Sanchez completed just 6-of-14 pass attempts for 38 yards and had a pair of interceptions. He hadn’t thrown a pass since 2011 until Sunday.
