Despite reports to the contrary, Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers has not been made available in any trade talks, including those involving John Wall of the Washington Wizards, at this time, a league source told Amico Hoops on Friday.
Ball, the 2017 second overall draft pick, is averaging 8.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season and is becoming known for his improved defensive ability.
The Lakers are reportedly gearing toward a potential trade for Anthony Davis and/or planning to go after big-name free agents next summer. Wall has a massive $207 million contract extension set to kick in next season and running through 2023. Starting next season, the Washington All-Star will collect an annual salary that begins at $38 million. He has a player option worth $47.3 million in 2022.
Outside of the reported Washington deal, Ball has not been available in any other potential trade talks at the moment, either, a league source said.
Kevin Broom of Bullets Forever had reported the Lakers have indeed offered Ball as part of a package to obtain Wall.
